Yes, towels are functional. We all want soft, warm, fluffy
towels to wrap around us when we come out of the shower. But you
don't have to use the same towels all the time. By changing your
towels with your mood, the season or the day of the week, you

towels of the dominant color of your bathroom, with white

yellow ducks. It was horrendous! Nothing could rescue that
bathroom, and since it was a company house I was not in a

cover, to hide as much of the other multitude of greens as I
could. It didn't solve the problem, but the towels definitely
helped lessen the damage. Hopefully you are in a better
position. If you like color and want something that stands out,
you can go with complementary colors. These are colors directly
opposite each other on the color wheel. This can give a very
lively, interesting look but be careful how you do it. For a
while, many years ago orange and purple together were the rage,
and in reality they are not quite complementary colors. Orange's
complementary color is blue and purple's complementary color is
green. But orange and purple are discordant colors, meaning they
do not usually "go" together.
I saw a wonderful combination of the two in a restaurant. It had
bright tangerine orange with a dark, deep, almost black purple.
I also saw a bedroom that looked awful with a light orange
bedspread and light, bright purple curtains. I do not know how
anyone could sleep in that room. The idea with discordant or
complementary colors is to make one color deep and the other
light or bright. Towels are a wonderful way to do this, as if
you get tired of the combination it is so easy just to change
the towels and have a more soothing scheme for a while. Towels
come in an enormous array of colors and shades. There are lovely
velour ones that look like velvet. There are fluffy ones,
jacquard ones, towels with lace or fringes, and of course, every
pattern under the sun. Try some patterned or striped towels and
then pick up the colors in solid colored towels. Again, easy to
switch and change. It is also an inexpensive way to decide what
you want to do in the way of paint, flooring and countertops in
a bathroom you are redesigning. Try your color combinations out
with towels and get a feel for how much of what color you want
to have - and once it is done, you already have the towels to

The Rotators. A 4-way neck machine will not work the rotators properly so you are going to want to go back to some simply manual resistance in order to work those muscles. Of course, you will not be working the rotators with weights, but you will be applying resistance to your neck with your hand while you are slowly turning your head to the left or the right.
It is strongly suggested that you begin slowly with this and do not start off with a great deal of resistance. When you come to the limit of your range of motion, you will want to go a head and slowly increase the resistance and hold it for about five to ten seconds.
You will want to repeat this process, turning your head this time in the other direction, and again holding it when you find that you can no longer turn the head any further. You will want to do three to five sets, as that is enough time for this muscle group.

Many people find that this exercise is best done while seated. This way your upper back muscles are completely relaxed. You only want to work on the extensor group so make sure that you are relaxing during the whole exercise.

Then, you will want to raise the head slowly as though you are trying to tuck your chin into your chest. You will want to make sure that both of your hands are holding the weight in place, while making sure that you are not helping the muscles perform the movement.
Just as with all of the other kinds of neck work, you want to make sure that you are starting light and that you are slowly moving through the motions in order to avoid injury. Do not use too heavy of a weight for all of your low repetitions since the neck is very fragile. Once you are used to this kind of training, you will be able to slowly increase the weights. For this group, you will want about ten to fifteen reps.
There is of course another option for you. You would want to take a piece of surgical tubing, which can be purchase at any medical supply company, and have the loose ends tied into a knot. You now have a loop of tubing.
For working the extensors, you will want to sit up on a bench or a chair and place the tubing on your forehead. You will take the other end up the loop and place it over a doorknob. Allow the head to slowly tilt back and then forward again, as you feel the resistance. When you have finally reached your range of motion limit, you will want to tilt back again and keep going until you have gone through a few sets of ten to fifteen reps.
Once you find that you are ready to increase the level of resistance, you will want to move further away from the anchor point by adding another loop of the tubing or by adding a heavier gauge of tubing. You can wrap a washcloth or towel around the tubing that will rest against your forehead. This will make it much more comfortable for you and it will also keep it from slipping while you go through the range of motion.

No Underwear, No Worries
It happened again.
I went to the gym late Friday afternoon. Packed up all the important stuff. Street clothes, towel, socks, shaving gear and shower stuff stays in the gym bag.
Underwear.
At least I thought so.
Finished the workout - lower body and abdominals. Got a good sweat.
Grabbed a shave - including the head.
Went to get my stuff for the shower.
That's when I noticed. Darn it, I did it again!
No undies.
What to do? I didn't want to go home all smelly. It's a lot easier to shower at the gym (I know this is a male phenomenon. Women never shower at the gym. I don't even know why they bother installing showers in the women's locker room.)

As usual, I decided to take the path of least resistance. Shower, dry off, get out, go bareback for the few minutes it takes to get home.
In another time all my attention would be focused on whether or not another guy saw me put jeans on without underwear. Now I have two thoughts about that...
1. Anyone who stares at me while I get dressed - well I'm not too worried about social customs. It's not polite to stare at naked guys getting dressed.
2. (The important one) It's liberating to be free from the opinion of others. There are some good reasons for wearing underwear under jeans. It prevents chafing, it keeps things in place (too much information?) and more you don't really want me to get into.
There are also a lot of reasons we do things that outlived their original purposes a long time ago. Many of the things we do now are there to enforce an existing social custom, one that makes people feel better, but sometimes impedes progress towards what we want.
I don't intend to make forgetting my underwear a habit. I feel better with them on.
But I feel really good not worrying about what others will think.
